Middle/Of the Week

Hola fellow nerdoids! I hope you are all having a splendid April cause I know I am! Although I did get a couple of inches of snow the other day... But I love snow so I don't care! Wouldn't it just be the best thing to be able to control snow and ice? I've always wanted that power!!!!

Anyways.... So, I have quite the amazing show to recommend for you today. Do you wanna know what it is? Well, do you? Come on! Please!!!.......... It's really gooooooodd!!!!!...................YES!! Thank you!!!!!!

So this over amazing show is none other that Bates Motel!!!!! It's a new show on A&E starring Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, and Max Thieroit.

What is it about?
  • My mom and I have been watching it every week from the beginning but we're not 100% sure as to what it is about. It seems to be an up to date version of Norman Bates life before he became psycho. (Norman Bates was the protagonist in Psycho)
  • Norman's (Freddie Highmore) father was killed in a suspicious accident in the garage so his mother, Norma, (Vera Farmiga) and him moved and bought a motel.
  • His half-brother, Dylan, (Max Thieroit) and his mother are always arguing after he randomly pops up at their doorstep looking for a place to stay.
  • The previous owner of the motel is not at all pleased that Norma has purchased the motel and house that used to belong to him. He threatens her to leave or else.
That's all I'm going to tell you without giving away any of the juicy details.

Why do I like it?
  • So far, the plot line is really engaging. I'm usually pretty good with guessing what's going to happen in shows and movies but with Bates Motel I have no idea. Basically anything can happen in this show. It has drama in it but not to much to make it a soap. There's suspense, a little romance, humour, and even a little action.
  • The score consists of a little bit of everything. Norman Bates has a fetish for old movies and songs, so a lot of the music is older however, they also play up to date songs such as "A-Team" by Ed Sheeran.
  • The characters are really well developed. Most of them are quite mysterious seeing as we don't know much about them yet but every now and then one of them will do or say something that makes you question them. They all have a certain aura about them that makes them suspicious.
  • With the main cast of characters, I found that each actor chosen to play them was a good choice. Vera and Max both play up the feud between their characters very well. I have seen Freddie Highmore in many films from when he was a little boy to just recently. In my opinion he has always been a phenomenal actor. His performance in Finding Neverland was quite moving. As his character in Bates Motel goes through the struggle of losing his father, moving to a new school, and dealing with his messed up family, Highmore finds himself having to emerge in emotional and difficult scenes. As he could from a young age, his performances are moving and believable.
So, I hope you will all check it out soon. New episodes appear on Monday at 8pm/c on A&E. If you want to check it out I highly suggest watching it from the beginning and you can do so by going on to the A&E website here, http://www.aetv.com/bates-motel/video/, and watch them! Have fun!

And now on to the weekly music and quote!

Out of all of the amazing movie quotes out there you guys have to idea how hard it is for us to pick one a week. But after much deliberation I have picked this one for you.

"Oh go suck an egg rabbit." Jude Law (Pitch) from Rise of the Guardians :) (AMAZING MOVIE)

And your song is none other than.......... wait for it...... Copperhead Road! by Steve Earl!

And just because you all are so cute and probably have no idea who this is, have a bonus video!!!

And here's another one which is kinda dark and creep.... :3

Hope you all enjoy it! See you soon!! Mwah!! :D Much love- Pippin

Recommendation/Of the Week

Hi everyone!! It's me again! Me, the illustrious, amazing, and awesome Merry! So I decided to do my stuff all together in one nicely wrapped bundle of pure awesomeness. Yes.. awesomeness. I like that word.... ANYWAYS

Here is your Recommendation!
This week I have yet ANOTHER anime. This anime I am recommending is an awesome one I finished two weeks ago called STEINS;GATE!!

This anime is great. It's different from the others I have recommended, and I highly enjoyed it. As for genre, this anime is sorta in the Sci-Fi era.. but I could be corrected. I probably watched the whole anime in two days xD

Why I liked this anime:
1) THE SHEER UNIQUENESS of it all. It was completely different which made me love it!
2) The characters- all of them had their own little quirks.
3) Now, the main reason.... THE STORY! It was great. It all tied up. Completely amazing. :3
4) Other reasons!

OF THE WEEK TIME!

The quote for this week is "I knew that guy when he was a caterpillar, you know, before he "came out"" by Buck (Simon Pegg) from "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs"

And the song is..."No One Would Listen" sung by the awesome Gerard Butler (You know, the "I AM SPARTA" guy) from the movie The Phantom of the Opera. This was actually from a scene that was deleted from the actual movie. I have absolutely no idea why because this is freaking beautiful. Anywho, Enjoy!!

Hope you all have a fantastic week! Until next time! <3 Merry! :) :3

Monday, 1 April 2013

Wow... Again I am so sorry for the very late update. Hey that rhymed! Sorry... So, to start off this post I would like you all to take a moment of silence and remember a great actor by the name of Richard Griffiths better known as Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter series. He will be greatly missed.

On a lighter note, yesterday was none other than MERRY'S BIRTHDAY!!!! Happy Birthday Merry!!!!! We all hope you had a great day!!! Oh, and April Fool's everyone!!! :D

So let's get down to business, I have a wonderful story that I would like you all to read. You may have heard it before. It is called "The Tale of the Three Brothers" and can be found in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

“There were once three brothers who were traveling along a lonely, winding road at twilight. In time, the brothers reached a river too deep to wade through and too dangerous to swim across.. However, these brothers were learned in the magical arts, and so they simply waved their wands and made a bridge appear across the treacherous water. They were halfway across it when they found their path blocked by a hooded figure.
And Death spoke to them. He was angry that he had been cheated out of three new victims, for travelers usually drowned in the river. But Death was cunning. He pretended to congratulate the three brothers upon their magic and said that each had earned a prize for having been clever enough to evade him.

So the oldest brother, who was a combative man, asked for a wand more powerful than any in existence: a wand that must always win duels for its owner, a wand worthy of a wizard who had conquered Death! So Death crossed to an elder tree on the banks of the river, fashioned a wand from a branch that hung there, and gave it to the oldest brother.

Then the second brother, who was an arrogant man, decided that he wanted to humiliate Death still further, and asked for the power to recall others from Death. So Death picked up a stone from the riverbank and gave it to the second brother, and told him that the stone would have the power to bring back the dead.

And then Death asked the third and youngest brother what he would like. The youngest brother was the humblest and also the wisest of the brothers, and he did not trust Death. So he asked for something that would enable him to go forth from that place without being followed by Death. And death, most unwillingly, handed over his own Cloak of Invisibility.
Then Death stood aside and allowed the three brothers to continue on their way, and they did so, talking with wonder of the adventure they had had, and admiring Death’s gifts. In due course the brothers separated, each for his own destination.
The first brother traveled on for a week or more, and reaching a distant village, sought out a fellow wizard with whom he had a quarrel. Naturally with the Elder Wand as his weapon, he could not fail to win the duel that followed. Leaving his enemy dead upon the floor, the oldest brother proceeded to an inn, where he boasted loudly of the powerful wand he had snatched from Death himself, and of how it made him invincible.
That very night, another wizard crept upon the oldest brother as he lay, wine-sodden, upon his bed. The thief took the wand and, for good measure, slit the oldest brother’s throat.
And so Death took the first brother for his own.
Meanwhile, the second brother journeyed to his own home, where he lived alone. Here he took out the stone that had the power to recall the dead, and turned it thrice in his hand. To his amazement and his delight, the figure of the girl he had once hoped to marry, before her untimely death, appeared at once before him.
Yet she was sad and cold, separated from him as by a veil. Though she had returned to the mortal world, she did not truly belong there and suffered. Finally the second brother, driven mad with hopeless longing, killed himself so as truly to join her.
And so Death took the second brother for his own.
But though Death searched for the third brother for many years, he was never able to find him. It was only when he had attained a great age that the youngest brother finally took off the Cloak of Invisibility and gave it to his son. And then he greeted Death as an old friend, and went with him gladly, and, equals, they departed this life.”
